V-Sprint Prescott Hill Climb update and results
V-Sprint is a club that organises great events. This post is about running the first V-Sprint Prescott Hill Climb. Achieving this was a huge result as such an event has never taken place before. Jim built up a rapport with the Bugatti Owners Club establishing a framework for an event where we could use the race track during the lunch break of the car racing.
A team was then established to deliver. The risks were high as the Bugatti Owners Club would not have taken kindly to it becoming a shambles.
Pre event organisation established quality advertising, organising marshals, rider paperwork and risk management plans.
When the day arrived, so did the rain. Despite the conditions the team delivered a race like no other. Certain quirks of this race was the need for a flexible start time which would be a riders nightmare. But every rider was so excited to be able to ride on the climb. They just wanted to have fun racing. This helped create the most relaxed, friendly, professional and wet race I’ve seen in along time. And good prep for next year as they want us back.
The riders provided a series of great times. The car racing commentators provided a great atmosphere and the smiles at the end said it all.
Kirstin Bamford (Bath CC) was the fastest lady with a time of 2 minutes 25 seconds, and Ben Millar (Primera-TeamJobs) was the fastest man and fastest overall on the day with an epic time of 1 minute 53 seconds, the only rider to conquer the climb in under 2 minutes! Both winners very generously (and without hesitation) donated all of their winnings to Cure Leukaemia. Thanks to the generous support of The Bugatti Owners club, this inaugural event – which we hope to run again in the future – was a huge success and helped Club V-Sprint raise £603 for Cure Leukaemia.

In September 2023, three Club riders will take on Cure Leukaemia’s “Tour of the TAP”, with each rider aiming to raise £5,000. The team will ride around one hundred miles every day for ten consecutive days across Britain, travelling over 1,000 miles total, and visiting each of the Cure Leukaemia Trial Acceleration Programme (TAP) centres on the journey.
