Velogames – Superclasico Round 18 – Eschborn-Frankfurt & Stage Race Championship – Round 5 – Tour de Romandie
Round 18 of the superclasico was a sorry state of affairs for a couple of players, who I’m sure would rather just move on, but we can’t let that happen right. Firstly Russ, who didn’t check his team before the deadline had 2 DNS, one DNF and only 1 rider score any points at all, claiming a total of 117 points. The only consolation for Russ was that he out scored Dave McCall by 117 points who missed the deadline. At the other end Paul M rediscovered his early season form taking first place with 891 points ahead of Lee G in second on 713 and Ian S just behind with 706 points for third place.
It was round 5 of the stage race championship with the 5 day Tour de Romandie. There was a good mix of teams, some taking the gamble not to to pick Remco Evenepol. Unfortunately, for Dave, who missed the second the entry deadline in the same week & will be rueing the dropped points come the end of the season. First place goes to Lee G with 2,958 points, claiming his second win of the stage race league, In second place was Nic Hill on 2,648, with Russ taking third with 2,579 points and his 4th podium from 5 stage races.
Overall there is no change in the top two, but following a poor score in the superclasico Russ drops a place to fourth, with Lee Gardner jumping two places from fifth to third. With Dave ‘when is the deadline’ McCall dropping from fourth to fifth. Ian Smith continues to score well and is closing the gap on the top 5.
Next Up – Giro d’Italia starts on the 9th May. It’s possible to score over 10k points in grand tours by having a good mix of GC, sprinters, climbers, breakaway specialists and don’t overlook the significant impact end of tour points have on the overall score. Good luck, click here to enter.
