Road Cycling Confidence Course for Cure Leukaemia
This weekly outdoor road cycling course is suited to riders of a wide range of ages and ability: perhaps you ride occasionally but want to improve, maybe you want to learn how to ride in a group, or perhaps you want to get fitter and gain some confidence in riding on the roads; whatever the reason, this is a great way to meet some new cycling buddies while learning a wide range of skills from experienced and qualified riders.
V-Sprint has successfully run “couch to 50k” courses previously, and last year’s course was in support of club Legend Jackie Fowler who rode all 21 stages of the Tour de France one week ahead of the pro’s, individually raising over £37,000 for Cure Leukaemia. This year three V-Sprint riders are again riding in support of Cure Leukaemia in the inaugural “Tour of the TAP” where in September a team of up to 30 will ride 100+ miles across the UK every day for 10 days, completing over 1,000 miles while visiting each of the 12 Cure Leukaemia TAP (Trial Acceleration Programme) centres, with each rider aiming to raise at least £5,000, and the V-Sprint trio aiming to raise over £15,000. 100% of the £60 fee for this year’s Road Cycling Confidence Course will go directly to Cure Leukaemia.
If you have any questions at all then please do not hesitate to email us, plus there will be an informal information evening at the Ewe & Lamb, Bromsgrove, 7pm Wednesday 17th May, where you can meet some of the ride leaders, ask questions, and sign up if you want to.
The course starts Sunday 21st May, running on consecutive weeks, and will always start and finish at The Ewe & Lamb, Bromsgrove. Expect each session to run for at least 2-3 hours. A helmet is compulsory and bikes should be in safe working order. The type of bike is not important, but be mindful that we will be riding solely on roads and the course will be relevant to road riding. There will also be an optional Saturday afternoon session – probably on week 2 or 3 – for anyone who wants to try cleats for the first time (subject to interest). The fee is payable in full up-front and is non-refundable.
