V-Sprint Hill Climb Challenge and V-Sprint 20 mile Challenge

 V-Sprint Hill Climb Challenge 2017

7 hill sections (ALL Strava Segments) over 22 miles with total climb of over 2000 ft. The route loops around on itself so make sure you get it right or your time will not count

 The Route

17 hill climb

 

10 points down to 1 point for the fastest time on each segment

20 points to 1 point for the fastest overall time

In the case of equal scores, the faster overall time recorded wins

 

 

 

 

 

Leave Finstall Village Hall down the hill and turn right in to Pikes Pool Lane (The Challenge Course Starts here)

Section 1

  • At the end of Pikes Pool lanes Turn left and immediately right in to Blackwell Road.(V-Sprint Blackwell Climb starts here)
  • Follow Blackwell Road, which becomes Wheeley Road, After you crest the top of a hill the roads drops for 100 yards where the road forks, take the left fork, continuing on Wheeley Road.
  • Continue up the hill and this segment finishes just before the right turn to Foxhill Lane

Section 2

  • Turn Right in to Foxhill Lane and at the end turn left on to Scarfield Hill, which takes you past the railway station and all the way in to  Alvechurch.
  • Head Straight across the square in Alvechurch, turning right towards Weatheroak at the far side.
  • After 1 mile turn right in to Rowney Green Lane (V-Sprint Rowney Green Climb (1) starts here)
  • Follow this road to the end where the segment finishes on the brow of the hill before the T Junction

Section 3

  • Turn Right in to Storrage Lane, A steep decent down to a T junction. At the Junction turn right back towards Alvechurch.
  • Follow the road through Alvechurch to the motorway bridge, where you turn left at the Island and then immediately left in to Aqueduct Lane (V-Sprint Rowney Green Climb (1) starts here)
  • The segment finishes at the top of this road just before the T Junction.

Section 4

  • Turn left over the Motorway and then left again down Callow Hill Lane.
  • At the Mini Island, at the end of this road, turn right towards Alvechurch centre where you fork left toward Weatheroak, for a second time, over the same route you previously travelled.
  • Continue past the Rowney Green turn under the motorway bridge (V-Sprint Weatheroak Climb (1) starts here)
  • The segment finishes at the top of Weatheroak Hill before you turn right

Section 5

  • Turn right in to Wartery Lane, and then next right in to Lilley Green Lane. Travel over the motorway and down hill towards Redditch for a mile and a half.
  • After a sharp right bend, turn right in to Inknield Street, then Immediately left in to Storrage lane
  • After a short drop down and a sharp right turn (V-Sprint Rowney Green Climb (2) starts here)
  • This segment finishes just be for the crossroads in Rowney Green and the decent back towards Alvechurch.

Section 6

  • A steep decent down to a T junction. At the Junction turn left and then next right (50 yards) into Grange Lane.
  • There is a series of bends and the road opens up. (V-Sprint Canal Climb starts here)
  • The finish of this segment is the top of the long hill which starts after the canal bridge.

Section 7

  • Follow the road to the end.
  • Straight across the crossroads
  • There is a short drop and then the road bends to the right, continue down the hill and under the dual carriageway, where you turn left
  • After 100 Yards turn right in to Dusthouse Lane and then, after a mile, left in to London lane for the last climb.
  • There is a short drop and then the road bends to the right (V-Sprint London Lane Climb starts here)
  • The segment finishes in the same place as the V-Sprint Hill Climb Challenge –  at the very top of this hill just before the end of the road.

Make sure you follow the correct route, or your time will not count. Individual segment times do not count unless you complete the whole course

 V-Sprint 20 mile Challenge 2017

The route is just under 20 miles with a target lime of under 1 hour

  • Start from Hanbury Road opposite the Hanbury Turn Pub
  • Travel straight over the lights an you are on the course
  • (Note: if you start from the Hanbury Turn side or the slip road you will not trigger the start of the course)

17 - 20 mile chal

  • Keep Straight on this road over Hanbury Hill to the Vernon Arms where you turn right.
  • After 2.2.Turn Left on to GooseHill lane and continue until you reach Himbleton (3 miles)
  • Turn left in to Harrow Lane, after the bridge turn left (Just before the hill up)
  • Continue to the end of this road and Turn Left on to Middle Lane
  • Take the next Left, Church Road, Up the hill into Bradley Green
  • Turn left and then next right (250 yards) into Flying Horse Lane
  • Continue to the crossroads where you go straight over on to Woodgate Road
  • Turn Right at the Gate Hangs Well on to Whitford Bridge Road

Caution

Narrow lanes with blind corners)

  • After the canal Bridge at the end of the road turn right on to Stoke Pound Lane
  • Follow the Road past the Queens Head where it becomes Sugar Brook Lane
  • Continue along the road up Buntsford Hill
  • The Course finishes as you leave the mini Island towards the Avoncroft Museum.
